#1119: Quake3 PBI refuses to start
------------------------------------------------+--------------------------
 Reporter: jdx | Owner:
Type: PBI Packaging Bug | Status: new
 Priority: minor | Milestone:
Component: PBI System | Version: 10.0-RELEASE
 Keywords: OpenGL,quake3,graphics,appcafe,PBI |
------------------------------------------------+--------------------------
Hi, after downloading and installing Quake 3, from the App-cafe' it gives
 this error:

Shared object "libGL.so.1" not found, required by "quake3"

This is from a KDE desktop/wm on 10-release with an MSI CSM875A-p45 main
 board and integrated Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470S CPU @ 2.90GHz

 [FreeBSD icebox1392 10.0-RELEASE-p11 FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p11 #0: Wed May

 root at amd64-builder.pcbsd.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64 ]

The developer of the port mentioned this in response:

"I'm not sure man, I think that the "quake3" binary is just not able to
find your libGL (Mesa or vendor-provided) library anywhere.

Try to search for it on your system, symlink it, something like that.

Alternatively, you can try going to /usr/ports/games/quake3 and
 recompiling the port manually."

This was after I asked why open arena and other similar accelerated games
would work but not this one.

This bug is quite trivial as you have open arena in the PBI system and is
 quite similar.

But I figure it is good to know, nevertheless !

I hope these random PBI bugs go away soon with the new proposed updates,
involving it running as native(or emulated some other way) programs or
something, according to the weekly feature update via the blog?

 Anyways,

Keep up the good work! 10-Release works very smoothly!
