It is better to bundle basic productivity, graphic, video, sound software
and utilities on base install in PC-BSD because this will make PC-BSD more
ready more to home users and users in an enterprise environment.

This is because home users and enterprises user want out-of-the-box
experience with necessary productivity, graphic, video and sound apps and
utilities that already installed and ready to use. Even most home and
enterprise users does not want to install software at all by themselves.
They just want to use the best software in to make their jobs done.

The bundled software will also be available on any of the desktop
envinronments in PC-BSD because the bundled software will be part of the
 base installation.

Here are my list but this is just my choosing, all can suggest on what
specific GUI software is best to be used:
 • Default Accessibility software = KDE accessibility apps
 • Default Archiving software = File Roller
 • Default Calculator = Galculator
 • Default CD\DVD burner = K3b
 • Default Chat client = Pidgin
 • Default Desktop icons (Home Folder, Network Browser, Recycle bin,
Control Panel and PC-BSD User Handbook)
 • Default E-mail client and Scheduler/Personal organizer =
 Thunderbird and Osmo
 • Default File/Folder browser = Dolphin
 • Default Font manager = Gucharmap
 • Default Mini games = KDE games
 • Default Music player = XMMS
 • Default Multimedia player = VLC
 • Default Network Computer browser (Like Network Neighboorhood in MS
 Windows)
 • Default Search software = Recoll
 • Default Network manager = Gnome network manager
 • Default Paint software = Kolourpaint
 • Default PDF reader = Evince
 • Default Screen capture software = Ksnapshot
 • Default System log viewer = Ksystemlog
 • Default System monitor = Conky
 • Default Text editor = Leafpad
 • Default Remote Desktop login software = Remmina
 • Default Sound recorder = Ardour
 • Default Video conference software = Skype
 • Default Web browser = Firefox
 • Enable Samba and NFS by default in order to shares folders in both
 Linux and Windows networks
 • Enable authentication to login different domains like Active
 Directory, LDAP, etc

We can disregard OpenOffice as an install on demand app later to make the
 bundled apps lighter.
