 VMWare fusion 6 works for me.  The only thing I changed was I bumped up
 the memory to 2048 MB and enabled 3D although VMware said it wouldn't be
 supported by the guest OS.  After install the VMWARE driver was selected.
 I was able to open control panel and all programs inside of it.  I was
 also able to launch gnome-shell by running gnome-shell --replace in a
 terminal.

 Anderson can you give more specifics about your version of VMware?  If not
 running VMware 6 can you try VMWare fusion 6 with the latest ISO on your
 hardware?
