 this is my first bug report so please be considerate if I didn't do it
 right,
 in the gnome D.E. when entering screen saver settings from gnome panel
 menu >system >preferences  you get the X screen saver instead of the gnome
 one which is the actual running one, thus for example if you like to set
 the time for the computer to enter screen saver or stop it from locking
 when in screen saver mode - you just unable to do so.
 The real screen saver can be reached by going into:  /usr/local/bin/gnome-
 screensaver-preferences
