#355: system freezes shortly after startup
  Reporter: ashumaloz | Owner:
Type: System Defect | Status: new
  Priority: critical | Milestone: 8.2
 Component: System Configuration | Version:
Resolution: | Keywords: system crash

Comment (by ashumaloz):

I was able to solve the problems I was having under 8.1 with your VESA
suggestion. I set the video card to Intel, instead of Intel 3d, booted
under VESA option, and then once KDE started, I disabled the 3-d effects.
I can now leave it on for a long period of time without it crashing.
I think that this would work under 8.2, but my DVD drive wanted to stop
working when I was trying to re-install it.
It's strange that my computer has no problems with Compiz, the moving
cube, wiggly windows, etc. under GNOME, but under KDE my computer hates
I bought this used online, so I don't konw the video adapter.
