Yes, it's fully finishing.

No automatic reboots on this box, although it does automatically reboot on
my macbook, but
it's a different issue, since it reboots before ever getting to the
installer.

errors, but on the same system i386 works like a champ. The install will
get to about 98%, then kernel panic and reboot without finishing, and thus
