Comment:

 Not sure if this is something fixable on the PC-BSD side. When the scan
 gui shows up, it does indeed do a scan via "ifconfig -v list scan", but
 sometimes ifconfig returns nothing. I think its more driver dependent than
 anything. Give that a try on your system, run ifconfig -v list scan
 several times, and occasionally you'll see a empty return.
