Comment(by kris):

 Once the installer launches does the keyboard work at that point? Also, in
 your BIOS do you have an option to enable "USB Keyboard" or "Legacy USB
 Keyboard" support? I know on a few of my systems I have to enable that
 before I can use a USB keyboard at the boot prompt.
