Comment:

 .kde.preUpgrade is a link, because the original .kde is a link to .kde4.
 We back it up separately, just in case the user has been messing around,
 and created an actual .kde dir :)

 However, the renaming action is intentional for the moment. Upgrading from
 7.x -> 8.x requires new KDE4 configs, and the upgrade option is used to
 repair as well, and the .kde4 profile is one the things which may need a
 repair. I'm going to make a note on the wiki for 8.1 though, to see if we
 can improve this functionality, or provide an option to keep the original
 config.
