Comment(by kris):

 Does the system boot fine then only panic somewhere during the installer
 GUI process?

 Any message on the screen when it panics which indicates the cause?

 Also, if you grab a copy of the FreeBSD 8.0 ISO, does it boot properly on
 there as well?
