Comment:

 This isn't really a bug, its more of a design issue. The "display" tool
 you are using which calls xrandr doesn't update your xorg configuration,
 it only takes effect when the tool is running and allows you to try
 different resolutions on the fly. However, in PC-BSD, you can use our
 Display setup wizard (Option 7 at the bootup splash screen) to permanently
 update xorg.conf with the 1440x900 resolution, which will be used in KDM /
 KDE by default.
