 I found out that the display brightness do get modified when I use the
 pre-defined keys in my Thinkpad T61 laptop. But the changes to the display
 brightness are not immediately visible in real time as expected. Instead,
 the changes in the display brightness becomes effective after rebooting my
 laptop.
