 Here's part of the message from notification area:

 "Compositing was too slow and has been suspended. If this was only a
 temporary problem, you can resume using ALT+SHIFT+F12 shortcut. You can
 also disable functionality check in advanced ..."

 Was able to resume compositing using the shortcut.
