I found the below instructions in the PC-BSD Users Handbook for
configuring network interfaces for internet connectivity.
To start configuring your network interface, click the Start Menu in the
lower-left corner (red ball) and click "Settings → Internet & Network →
Network Settings".
After installing PC-BSD 8.0 RC2 amd64 on to my Thinkpad T61 laptop, under
the "Settings" in the Start Menu, I can see only 3 menu items namely, "GTK
Styles and Fonts", "Menu Updating Tool" and "IBus Preferences".
I could not see the menu items "Internet & Network" or "Network Settings"
under the "Settings" in the Start Menu. I also tried searching for them,
but could not find them anywhere.
Please resolve this issue and/or update the Users Handbook documentation
if necessary so that Wireless/Wired Network Configuration can be done
easily.
