 Steps to reproduce:

 1. Download PC-BSD http://www.pcbsd.org/content/view/143/11/#DVD

 2. Create a new disk (here: in a virtual machine)

 3. Fire up the machine, booting from the above DVD. Here: VirtualBox,
 using an ICH6 ATA Controller

 Result:

 The OS loader works. A short time later, the boot process complains
 something along "Boot media not found"

 While I can switch the virtual machine to use an PIIX3 controller (which
 works), my not-so-recent real hardware has an ICH9 controller. I expect
 PC-BSD to fail there as well.
