Thanks for the suggestion! I've added this to LifePreserver in 8-Stable
for 8.1 down the road:

This update will let you change the remote dir you backup into (I.E. life-
preserver/), however this is still relative to the users homedir on the
remote system.
A good way to juggle around where the backup ultimately ends up is by
creating a sym-link in the users homedir for "life-preserver/ ->
/mirror/user/backup" or something of the like. Additionally if you setup a
user on the remote side, you can always change its homedir to somewhere
within your mirror disk.
I.E
/tankmirror/backupuser/
