It almost sounds like the default font size for Qt applications was set<br>
really low (all the programs you mentioned are Qt apps I believe). It is<br>
possible that you can simply reset the default font size somehow, I am<br>
not sure how to do that at the moment though.<br>

Then I noted that all those tiny font's are now back to normal for no reason - I haven't even started re-installing the system yet.<br>
