I don't know what's causing this but you can try to change
your DPI<br>
settings:<br>
<br>
$ xrandr --dpi 72<br>
or<br>
$ xrandr --dpi 120<br>
<br>
and then restart the application that has too small fonts.<br>

It almost sounds like the default font size for Qt applications was
set really low (all the programs you mentioned are Qt apps I
believe). It is possible that you can simply reset the default font
size somehow, I am not sure how to do that at the moment though.<br>
