Wou-wou wout, sounds pretty damn scary for me :)
Actually I think that I prefer to wait abit for the "update-release". All those "backup" scares nerves out of me.
Plus I think I'm gonna backup my system earlier with KBackup so don't wanna make few of them. Thx anyway!
Btw, when are u gonna release the stable version of our system so we could update it online? ")

On Sun, Sep 7, 2008 at 4:16 AM, Kris Moore <kris@pcbsd.com> wrote:

At this point I don't really have an upgrade path for beta and alpha
releases, since so much is still in flux. When we start releasing newer
versions than 7 though, you will be able to upgrade those, via online
update. However, if you want to save your data, here's what I would do:

(As root)

# cd /
# tar cvjf backup.tbz /root /usr/home
(save backup.tbz somewhere remote)

Then, after installing, just restore in the same way:

(pull back backup.tbz from remote)
# cd /
# tar xvpjf backup.tbz
