I have also noticed that the WiFi scanner does not pull all networks in the area, seems to grab a few at random. It does however work when you ifconfig xx list scan. Also, it'd be nice if the tool gave you feedback of what it was doing, ie; Scanning available networks, Scanning complete.. etc
As some on the list have already noticed, I have uploaded the latest
alpha to the FTP site:
This version fixes a LOT of bugs with installation problems. Custom
partitioning should work now, along with installing in a non-English
language. You should be able to overwrite a journaled partition now, or
even use custom partitioning with ZFS. I've spent the vast majority of
the week trying to test various install schemes, and I believe most of
the bugs have been worked out now. If you run into any partitioning
problems, please let me know about it.

Also, this release fixes support for K3B and other KDE3 based PBIs.
(Except DigiKam, that one still fails, will look into it soon)

As usual, please send us your testing reports to this list, so we can
continue the bug quash. We will be freezing the GUI interface soon here
to prepare for translation work, so don't be alarmed if parts of the GUI
are still not completely translated yet.
After a bit of playing I can definitely say that Dolphin is much
faster and more stable in this release. Also, I was able to quite
easily set it up so that I could access my Mac over the network using
SMB. Now if I can just figure out how to get it to work the other way
around. :-)

I am still installing using ZFS and have not had any trouble I can
attribute to that. Since I now have an empty drive, having totally
removed my Edison install, I will try installing there from the USB
image, which I finally got written out. Thunderbird again installs
from the testing PBI list and works flawlessly. I did play with KsB a
bit and so far have had no trouble with it.

I still get the cannot eject disk error message when trying to eject a
CD. This seems to apply only to data disks as CD player will eject
audio disks just fine.
Hello,

I have an old Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop with an external Belkin
(RaLink, detected as ral0) wireless card. This computer has run PC-BSD
1.4, 1.5 and 1.5.1. Each of those versions upon installation properly
scanned my wireless network, found the router, and allowed me to
configure the WPA supplicant using the KDE Network Manager. I haven't
been so lucky with PC-BSD 7 (08082008). Even if I hold the computer
three feet away from the router the scan will fail.

My computer now runs PC-BSD 7 alongside PC-BSD 1.5.1, in dual-boot
mode. I am writing this from within the PC-BSD 1.5.1 half, and I am
connected to the Internet via the same wireless network that PC-BSD 7
failed to find. I hope this helps you guys in some way. I am new to
alpha-testing.

Regards,

Gabi
