[PC-BSD Testing] install works, system fails to boot

Kris, at least part of this report appears to include the ZFS / MBR bug I've previously reported.
It may involve booting large capacity hard drives.

Those defaults may change though based upon the hardware of the box. If
you can do the install again, go ahead and take a note of the disk setup
screen, if its UFS or ZFS. Maybe click configure and change it to the
other and see if that makes a difference. It could be an issue with ZFS
