[PC-BSD Testing] Fwd: Fujitsu AMILO laptop and PC-BSD 8.2

Well, since the release of FreeBSD 9.0 was actually supposed to happen
in May, you never know what may come down the pipe. I am guessing we'll
see 9.0 by September. Maybe by then the major changes going into 9.0
will get sorted and finally allow it to work on your T61. Linux does
enjoy the benefits of far more developers and hardware vendors
supporting it. Compared to where BSD used to be years ago, PCBSD has
certainly pushed it into new arenas and that's a good thing. But I think
if FreeBSD wants to survive in this changing world it shouldn't remain
relegated to servers only. Years ago, I told all the Linux fanbois that
if Linux was so good, why isn't it on every desktop? Some muttering and
expletives occurred. In the early 2000s, I predicted that by the 3.2
kernel, it would be well enough developed that even a Mac user could do
well with it. :-P Funny that now it's suddenly jumping to kernel 3.0!
BSD and Linux, as powerful as they may be, are still niche market OSes:
