The error you are getting does look like the network is going down, 
since its timing out to fetch packages. For the moment you can re-run 
the command-line updater, and it'll resume where it left off. I've added 
to SVN a feature so that it tries several times after a network time-out 
/ failure like this. That should be in the next beta.
