I am using PC-BSD 8.1 as a server :-)

There is an application that I'd like to compile by hand, the way I always
do it in FreeBSD.

[root at gw] /usr/home/wash/Tools/Dovecot/dovecot-2.0-pigeonhole# ./autogen.sh
aclocal: not installed
autoreconf-2.68: aclocal failed with exit status: 1

....and my env shows:

HOME=/root
MAIL=/var/mail/wash
PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/games:/Programs/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/kde4/bin:/root/bin
TERM=linux
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
SHELL=/bin/csh
LOGNAME=root
USER=root
USERNAME=root
SUDO_COMMAND=/usr/bin/su
SUDO_USER=wash
SUDO_UID=1001
SUDO_GID=1001
HOSTTYPE=FreeBSD
VENDOR=unknown
OSTYPE=FreeBSD
MACHTYPE=unknown
SHLVL=1
PWD=/usr/home/wash/Tools/Dovecot/dovecot-2.0-pigeonhole
GROUP=wheel
