Hi All,

This is my first post so please be gentle. I am also a BSD newbie, so it you
need more information or suggest simple things to check I don't mind.

Issue 1. Weird install

The first install I did was a bit of a disaster. The install GUI started
fine but I had no keyboard(usb). The mouse was working though. From using a
FreeBSD 7.1(not PCBSD) install on this system I knew that simply unplugging
the keyboard and plugging it back in gets it working. So I did this and
completed the install.

After a reboot though I was left with a command line login prompt with no
KDE or Xserver. Again I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in to get
it working. Logging in as root did not require a password which was unusual
I though since I did specify one at install time. Console messages kept
coming up every minute or so about(I don't have the exact log) "getty on
tty8 can not exec /usr/local/bin/kdm". Looking in that folder I see some sym
links, so I suspected it was missing a link to kdm. Before making the link
though I busted my xorg config and kdm looked to have problems starting X
when I made the link. So decided its better/easier to just re-install again.
I also worked out that if I boot the machine with the keyboard in one of the
front USB ports then it starts up working instead of me having to unplug and
replug it back in. Perhaps this will help PC-BSD on first boot if my
keyboard is working from the start!!! Is it expected that PC-BSD not start
KDE/X if a keyboard and mouse isn't working or did something else go wrong?

Issue 2. Keyboard not working.

After the re-install with my keyboard attached to the front USB ports and
using the same media. I was left with a working system(KDE and X started
fine). I was also now able to easily access my NTFS drive from dolphin. With
this I set about taking a copy of /var/log/messages which seems to have the
boot up info on device detection and config. I then rebooted with the
keyboard plugged into its old USB port on the back of the system. This time
when the system started KDE loaded but my Keyboard AND mouse were not
working. Unplugging and then plugging both back in fixed the issue. Again I
took a copy of the /var/log/messages, hopefully I can report this now to the
FreeBSD team to look at. Does anyone know the best way to go about this?
Should I get other information from the system to help identify the problem?

Working at after boot. Keyborad on uhub5 Mouse on uhub2

So having the Keyboard on uhub1 with the mouse on uhub2 at boot up seems to
cause the issue.

Issue 3. No Sound

As soon as I get into the OS the first thing I usually try is some of my
FLAC music collection on the NTFS drive. It doesn't look like the default
player liked it(FLAC) but Amarok seems to play them fine judging by the
equalizer movement as there was no sound. How do I tell if this is config or
a driver issue? I poked around the System setting for the sound device and
ran the test on all four sound devices though I doubted it is the HDMI
device or the Digital outputs. I don't hear anything out out of the
headphone I have in the front speaker port of the onboard sound card.

Issue 4. Auto mount NTFS drive

This isn't a biggy and I'm sure a bit of googling would give me the answer.
As I use a second NTFS drive especially when trying PC-BSD build. I noticed
the shortcut/links I made on the desktop don't work when I rebooted. It
looks like this is because the second NTFS drive only gets mounted when you
try to access it in Dolphin. Is there a simple way of having PC-BSD mount
this volume on bootup. Or even better to just attempt mounting all volumes
detected at bootup.
