Good news: 7.0.x shuts down on my notebook. I believe there was a PBI 
update run a while ago that shut my notebook down but I didn't really 
realize that it actually worked!

That said, the mouse issue rose up again. I was able to "which moused" 
successfully returning /usr/bin/moused
