I've used motherboard asus m3a78-t and internal HD3300 with 7.0.0 / 7.0.2
without any problems. I've used radeonhd driver, built manually from 
sources.
I've even start CS:S under wine with about 15-20 FPS :-P
So you don't listen about bleeding edge hardware, just keep trying and 
experimenting :)
