Karl,

Try this,

Edit /PCBSD/SystemUpdater/bin/getUpdatesDir.sh

Look for "RSYNC_PROXY" which is commented out. Go ahead and uncomment 
it, and use your proxy server. Does it work now? I'll have to see if I 
can find a way to automate it so that rsync grabs the proxy info 
automatically. Where do you normally specify your proxy settings, in KDE 
or elsewhere in the system?
