Sure! Which part of the system settings is failing to save? Which 
module? It may be something as simple as of the "rc" files got 
corrupted, and needs to be removed from .kde4/share/config/ to fix the 
issue.

Here's some of the potential files which may need to be removed to be 
re-created

(all in .kde4/share/config)
systemsettingsrc
kwinrc


Or maybe check to ensure all of them have your user permissions:

chown <usr>:<usr> .kde4/share/config/*
