I tested PCBSD 7.0 Alpha on a laptop. PCBSD 7.0 failed to install at the
point after "starting default moused:"

It did not matter whether I started in the default installation mode, the
ACPI disabled, the Safe Mode, or the VESA mode.

The dmesg immediately before the failure said:

Mounting late file systems
Configuring syscons: blanktime
Local package initialization
Starting default moused:

*** PCBSD i386 on ttyv0 ***
g_vfs_done( ):md3.uzip[READ(offset=143753216, length=16384)] error=5
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1:/usr/lib/libbsm.so2:read error: Input/output error

getty repeating too quickly on port /dev/ttyv0 sleeping 30 seconds

This laptop is an Acer Travelmate 4001LCi. I previously posted a message to
testing concerning PCBSD 1.5.1 upgrade which had failed with similar dmesgs.
However, the laptop works great with PCBSD 1.5. It has only balked at
PCBSD 1.5.1 and PCBSD 7.0.

So you can see the type of hardware on this laptop, here is the full dmesg
output from the PCBSD 1.5 installation:
