This testing report is about PCBSD 1.5rc3
A PCBSD 1.5rc3 Repair/update over PCBSD 1.5rc2 went fine, but seemed to crash.
Fresh install of 1.5rc3 works fine. No problems with the install
routine or automatic reboot.
The only problem I had was with Firefox:
Firefox will not start:
1. Would not start as installed from Disk 2 during fresh install:
Captured from Stdout:
ld-elf.so.1: assert failed: /usr/src/libexec/rtld-elf/i386/reloc.c:290
Abort trap
2. Downloaded FF 2.0.0.12-1 PBI & Installed it.
Although it loaded upon completion, it crashed within seconds.
Restarted FF but it kept crashing with this error message:
Captured From Stdout: Illegal instruction
Captured from Stderr: (firefox-bin:63528): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not
supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale.
3. Tried to start FF from terminal & same failure code:
%whereis firefox
firefox: /usr/local/bin/firefox /usr/ports/www/firefox
%cd /usr/local/bin
%ls firefox*
firefox
%firefox
Illegal instruction
%
4. Removed FF PBI and attempted to install from ports without any success:
=> Attempting to fetch from
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.12/source/.
===> Vulnerability check disabled, database not found
=> MD5 Checksum mismatch for firefox-2.0.0.12-source.tar.bz2.
=> SHA256 Checksum mismatch for firefox-2.0.0.12-source.tar.bz2.
===> Giving up on fetching files: firefox-2.0.0.12-source.tar.bz2
firefox-2.0.0.12-source.tar.bz2
Make sure the Makefile and distinfo file (/usr/ports/www/firefox/distinfo)
are up to date. If you are absolutely sure you want to override this
check, type "make NO_CHECKSUM=yes [other args]".
*** Error code 1
Stop in /usr/ports/www/firefox.
