Network Forensics: Understanding and Mitigating Malicious Internet Activity

May 3-7, 2010

IMPACT Global HQ

Cyberjaya, Malaysia

IMPACT is pleased to announce "Network Forensics: Understanding and
Mitigating Malicious Internet Activity" training course. IMPACT -
International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats is the first
comprehensive global public - private partnership, bringing together
governments, industry leaders and cyber security experts to enhance the
global community's capacity to prevent, defend and respond to cyber threats.

The ability to preserve and analyse data found on digital storage media,
computer systems and networks is essential for understanding and mitigating
cyber threats against IT infrastructures. The ability to forensically
analyse these devices and systems in a manner that preserves critical
information is essential. The forensics professional must be highly
competent in collecting, examining, analysing and reporting on digital
evidence. Participants will gain real world knowledge and skills to analyse
network traffic, improve network security and reliability, and protect
networks from malicious and criminal attacks. Participants will learn
techniques to identify suspect traffic pattern, identify a breached host,
identify signs of bots running in a network and the techniques to deal with
and manage compromised machines. Participants will also learn the latest
Botnet technology, functions and activities that enable them to defend their
network effectively.

This five (5) full-day course is developed specially for computer forensics
practitioners, network administrators, system administrators, penetration
testers, security incident handlers, IT security managers and practitioners.

The instructor, Ryan Connolly, founded eKrios Systems LLC in 2010, and
formerly worked as Team Cymru's representative in Asia. He has more than 10
years of hands-on experience in network security analysis, computer
forensics and software engineering. Ryan is focused on spreading security
awareness, providing security training and assisting with collaborative
efforts in the service provider security community.

Some of the topics to be covered include:

. Overview of Botnet as an enabling technology
