FreeNAS 0.7 adds ZFS support


The FreeNAS <http://www.freenas.org/> developers have
availability of version 0.7 of FreeNAS (code named Khasadar), a
FreeBSD-based Network-attached storage (NAS) UNIX-like server operating
system. FreeNAS includes a full Web configuration graphical user interface
(GUI) and supports the FTP, NFS, CIFS (Samba), AFP, rsync and iSCSI
protocols and software

The latest release is based on FreeBSD
now includes support for the ZFS (Zettabyte
File System <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZFS>) file system. In addition to
a number of bug fixes, the release also features several major changes and
updates to the included components, such as Samba 3.0.37 and version 1.4.23
of the lighttpd web server. The
BitTorrent <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_BitTorrent_clients> client
has been updated to version 1.72 and other additions include the ability to
configure the login shell for a user and a user portal that allows a local
user to login and change their password – all of which can be configured via
the WebGUI.

FreeNAS 0.7 is available to
32 and 64-bit systems. Once downloaded, it can be installed on a
Flash card, USB flash drive, hard drive or run as a LiveCD that saves the
configuration file to a USB drive or floppy disk. FreeNAS is released under
