It could be, but if you look here:

As you can see, the problem doesn't exist in SVN.

In fact, if you look at the revision log: 
https://trac.pcbsd.org/log/pcbsd/trunk/system-overlay/PCBSD/soundDetect/soundcards.xml

It would seem the problem has never existed, which is a bit odd...

Can anyone replicate this? I haven't got a pure 1.5.x machine handy at the 
moment.
